Terms of use
The rules for using RealUp, the app and this website.
The short version
- RealUp is a private project by one person, not a company with a support team. It can go down, change, or one day be shut down.
- Summaries and fact checks are made by an AI. They can be wrong. Don’t rely on them for anything important without looking at the source yourself. That’s what the references are for.
- The content from videos, photos and PDFs, and everything made from it, is for you. Don’t publish it as your own text.

RealUp is a private project, not a company. These terms apply between you and the person named above, for the app and for the website realup-app.com.
2. What RealUp is, and what it costs
RealUp collects YouTube videos, photos and PDFs in boards, reads their text and turns it into a summary in which you can look up which source a statement came from. The fact check rates statements you mark.
Using RealUp is currently free. AI features use up credits, which are limited. There is no right to availability, to a particular set of features, to a particular amount of credits, or to a feature staying the way it is. RealUp is still being built, and things change.
If there are paid plans in the future, they will have their own terms, which you agree to explicitly when you buy.
If RealUp is shut down, this will be announced in the app at least 30 days in advance, so you can save your content.
3. Your account
- An account belongs to one person. Don’t share your login.
- Use an email address that belongs to you and that you read. It’s the only way to reach you.
- You are responsible for everything that happens through your account. If you think someone else can get in, change your password.
- Anyone under 16 needs the consent of a parent or guardian.
4. What you add, and who owns it
The videos whose links you add don’t belong to you or to RealUp. Subtitles, titles and everything made from them are copyrighted content of third parties. Through RealUp you may read, sort and summarise them for yourself, the same way you’d take notes on a video.
You are responsible for the photos and PDFs you upload. Only upload what you’re allowed to use.
Not allowed:
- publishing or selling subtitles, extracted text or summaries as your own text
- collecting them systematically to build your own service, dataset or AI training
- removing author, name or source information and passing the content off as your own
You keep the rights to anything you write yourself in the memory tab. You only give RealUp the right to store it, show it and process it for the app’s features.
5. Summaries and fact checks are made by a machine
Summaries and fact checks are produced by an AI model, and the fact check also uses a web search. That has consequences, and they belong here rather than in the small print:
- Summaries can be wrong. They can shorten or sharpen statements, or put them in a context the source doesn’t support.
- A fact check is an assessment, not a verdict. It can be mistaken, miss sources or find outdated ones. That’s why every result comes with its reasoning and references, so you can check for yourself.
- References are never guessed. If the app can’t find a statement word for word in the source, it shows no reference rather than an invented one.
Don’t make medical, legal or financial decisions on this basis without looking at the source yourself.
6. Shared boards
- You decide who you invite. All members see every source and the entire memory of the board, including what you wrote yourself.
- Other members see your display name and your email address.
- An invite code is valid for 24 hours. You can withdraw it at any time. Anyone who has already joined stays until you remove them.
- Boards locked with a PIN can’t be shared.
7. The waitlist
The waitlist on realup-app.com is not binding. Your spot and the ranking don’t give you a right to a particular date, early access or any other advantage. Invite links are only available with a RealUp account. Anyone who moves up the ranking with fake accounts, made-up email addresses or similar tricks can be removed from it.
8. What’s not allowed
- posting illegal content or using RealUp for anything illegal
- getting around the credit limits, querying the service automatically, or calling the server functions outside the app and the website
- trying to get into other people’s accounts or boards
- disrupting or overloading the service, or copying it by scraping it
9. Suspension and ending
You can delete your account yourself at any time, in the app or here on this website. That ends this agreement.
An account can be suspended or deleted if it breaks section 4, 7 or 8, or harms the service or other users. For less serious breaches you’ll be warned first, where possible.
10. Liability
RealUp is provided free of charge. Liability applies to intent and gross negligence, and to damage from injury to life, body or health. This liability can’t be excluded and isn’t excluded here.
There is no liability for simple negligence, in particular not for data loss, lost profits or damage from decisions based on a summary or fact check.
Back up important content yourself. RealUp is not an archive and not a backup.
11. Other services
RealUp relies on YouTube, a subtitle service and an AI model with web search. There is no liability for their availability or content. If their terms or prices change, that can change what RealUp can do. Which services these are and what data they receive is in the privacy policy.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms can change when the app changes or the law requires it. Significant changes are announced in the app at least 30 days in advance. If you keep using RealUp after that, you agree. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
13. Applicable law
The operator currently lives in Australia, and the law applicable there governs these terms. Mandatory consumer protection laws of the country you live in are not affected. So if you live in the EU, you don’t lose any of the protection you have there.
